Rishi Kapoor to play himself again

After Om Shanti Om , Rishi Kapoor will be playing himself (the actor) in another film to be produced by Bobby Bedi. But unlike in Om Shanti Om where he just does a cameo, in this film he has a full-fledged role. The film titled Hadbahedi will be directed by actor Annu Kapoor’s elder brother Ranjeet Kapoor. Ranjeet Kapoor has been a popular writer and has written dialogues for several films including Mangal Pandey, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Lajja, Bandit Queen, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

“Yes, Rishi Kapoor will play himself in the film”, says Ranjeet Kapoor who more recently has written the film Halla Bol .

“The film is based in a village called Hadbahedi , hence the title. The village is quite neglected as compared to the rest of the country so they are quite underdeveloped. But there are no problems whatsoever in the village as people are very honest".

So where does Rishi Kapoor fit into all of this? “People of the village find out that the great Rishi Kapoor was born in this village. So they invite him to the village and it is when he accepts their invitation that all the chaos in the village begins.

It is basically a mixture of illusion and reality”, says the director.

Apart from Rishi Kapoor, the film also stars Priyanshu Chatterjee, Kulraj Randhawa and Annu Kapoor apart from a number of students from The National School of Drama (NSD).
