'Golmaal-3' is in trouble!

Blockbuster entertainer of this year 'Golmaal-3' is directed by Rohit Shetty. It seems that, the movie is in trouble these days! Actually, The Indian Stammering Association has sent a legal notice to the producers of the movie accusing them of mocking people who stammer.

In 'Golmaal-3' bollywood actor, Shreyas Talpade is playing a role of a person who stammers. Sources says that, the association is going to take the filmmakers to court for poking fun at people suffering from stammering. In this flick other characters of the movie like Arshads Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Kunal Khemu make fun of the stammering character, Laxman played by Shreyas Talpade and people related to the association are not at all happy with this act of the actors.

The internal news says that, they have sent a legal notice asking to delete the respective scenes where the character stammers. Now, the producers are in a trouble because the movie has released already and it not possible for them to delete the respective scenes of stammering from the flick.

They have now planned to respond to the notice sent by the Uttarakhand court before December 14. The movies's spokesperson says that, they have not tried to put down any person with a physical disability, the movie is a pure entertainment and it should be taken in the same way. People related to the movie have no intentions to harm the sentiments of persons who are suffering from the disability. 'Golmaal-3' is a light and pure entertainment.

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade reacts on it by saying that, No one does it intentionally and people should look at it in a positive way, as the character he has played is the hero of the film. Moreover, he wants to ask the association that, 'Why are they all considering themselves to be different when they are not and they have no intentions to point out any finger on any one, it is just a character. In 'Golmaal-3' Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan and hot actress Kareena Kapoor are playing the lead roles,the movie is a remake of the blockbuster hit of the year 2008, Golmaal Returns. New additions of the movie includes Mithun Chakraborty and Kunal Khemu. The film's music was composed by music director Pritam with lyrics by Kumaar.

Ajay Devgan's BMW Z4 CAR

it's a case of real life imitating reel life. On the eve of his film One Upon A Time In Mumbaai's release, Ajay Devgn, who owns a fleet of expensive cars, has bought himself a BMW Z4. Incidentally, his character in the film, Sultan Mirza also loves fast cars.

A source close to the actor reveals, "It is a silver convertible with red interiors. AJ is so possessive about his new car that he drives it around himself, and won't part with the keys."

Says OUATIM director Milan Luthria, "He's very passionate about his cars. Ajay was one of the first actors to get a silver-grey Honda during Naajayaz. That's the first film we had worked on together, when I was assisting Bhattsaab. During Kachche Dhaage, he was driving a Landcruiser.

We stopped at a petrol pump while driving out of Mumbai for the shoot. The attendant was so awestruck by Ajay that he put petrol instead of diesel! We had to wait for a mechanic to repair the car but till he came, Ajay refused to leave his car. A crowd of over 50,000 people came to gawk at him but Ajay sat unfazed. That's how possessive he is about his cars."

Kajol, not happy with her hubby

Kajol is very angry with her husband, Ajay Devgan and she has valid reasons to do so. The reason behind her anger is that Ajay has not get the enough time to catch her My Name Is Khan. And when he was questioned about this he was found scratching his head as he had no answers.

However Ajay had promised her that he would catch her movies as soon as he completes the promotion of his new release “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai”. He also said that he is very much proud of her wife’s work and quite impressed with her act in upcoming movie, We are a Family and also complemented her for her great looks.

Bollywood’s sweetest couple, Kajol and Ajay Devgan may soon land up in the middle of a box office clash. According to reports, their individual films will release around same time.

Ajay’s ‘Aakrosh’, directed by Priyadarshan, is releasing on October 1, while Kajol’s ‘Love You Maa’, a remake of Hollywood flick Stepmom, will also release the same week.

If this happens it would be one of the rare occasions in Bollywood when a husband and wife will compete with each other.

Raajneeti - Movie Review

Prakash Jha's RAAJNEETI talks of warring cousins, dynastic rule and electoral politics of the Hindi heartland, besides the vicious and horrifying games some people play to attain power.

RAAJNEETI is a human drama, a complex game that people indulge in to achieve power and how this greed envelopes them and transforms them into ruthless and conniving humans. It takes time for the story to sink in, but slowly and steadily, you get sucked into a world that's dark, dangerous and demonish. The attire may be white, but the deeds are grey or black.

RAAJNEETI is not only 'Mahabharata', but also 'Godfather'. Despite knowing 'Mahabharata' or 'Godfather', one is not able to presume what games the present-day Pandavas and Kauravas would play in RAAJNEETI. In fact, the story alters constantly, unravelling in a serpentine manner and speed... so much so that you don't know what's gonna happen next. It keeps you awed at the constant turn of events. Clearly, unpredictability is the biggest strength of RAAJNEETI. Yet, this is not a documentary, tetchy or preachy film. This one not only entertains, but also enlightens.

The flipside? None, actually. The naysayers may point out that the subject material is 'heavy', 'serious' and 'dry', but you ought to know that when you adapt 'Mahabharata' in the current milieu, you can't expect 'item songs' and 'slapdash humour and mimicry', for God's sake. These naysayers may also state that the running time is a no-no in today's times, but let's not forget that even 3 hours is too short a duration for a good film and vice-versa, even an hour is too lengthy for a terrible film. RAAJNEETI is a genuinely good product, so you definitely don't mind its length. But one thing is for sure: RAAJNEETI doesn't cater to an audience that keeps its brains at home while watching a film. You need to be alert while watching this one.

Prakash Jha, the persona, is known for qualitative cinema and RAAJNEETI, his new offering, stands tall on the list. Cinema is all about narrating interesting stories on celluloid and for that very reason, RAAJNEETI deserves distinction marks. Of course, the massive star cast and the sparkling performances are the icing on the cake.

Bhaskar Sanyal [Naseruddin Shah], the fire-brand leftist leader, is feared for his single-handed ability to challenge the most powerful of leaders. Until one private mistake of his hurtled him into a self-imposed exile.

Cut to the present day. Prithvi [Arjun Rampal] is the heir to a powerful political legacy and impatient to seize the top position. But his cousin, Veerendra [Manoj Bajpayee], proves his biggest political opponent. He's a man who believes he was born to rule and who will now stop at absolutely nothing to claw his way back to the top.

Cornered by family and political colleagues, Veerendra plays a new game: He picks up Sooraj [Ajay Devgn], a youngster with anger in his heart and leadership on his mind. Sooraj doesn't know the secret behind his identity, which, of course, is revealed much, much later.

Prithvi's brother Samar [Ranbir Kapoor] is an 'outsider', with no political aspirations, but he gets sucked into the battle-ravaged arena of family rivalry. Only to turn into a master of the craft of political warfare. Indu [Katrina Kaif], daughter of a wealthy industrialist, is also caught in this web. Last but not the least, there's Brij Gopal [Nana Patekar], who plays the role of mentor and guide to Prithvi and Samar as the battle gets bloodier by the day.

It requires courage to assemble a mammoth, ensemble cast, pick a story that does justice to each character and give the film the feel of an epic. Also, you ought to have comprehensive knowledge of the subject material - politics, in this case. And for all these and more Prakash Jha deserves all the praise possible. He knows the territory like the back of his hand, having observed the political culture very closely. Like I said at the outset, every character in RAAJNEETI is grey or black, not squeaky clean at all.

At an edited length of almost 3 hours, RAAJNEETI keeps the viewers glued to the goings-on for start to end. Anjum Rajabali and Prakash Jha's screenplay brings to the fore the ugly face of democracy most realistically and convincingly. The constant twists-n-turns in the story, the characters who change colours faster than chameleons and the blood-bath they indulge in are the highpoints of this film. In fact, there are sequences that merit brownie points, but it wouldn't be ethical to reveal them here since that would rob the fun while watching the film.

If the screenplay is watertight, the dialogue are equally remarkable. Every line is soaked in acid and only enhances the impact of several sequences. There's no scope for music in the film and the songs, including the hugely popular 'Mora Piya', are interspersed briefly in the narrative. Cinematography is top notch. RAAJNEETI is not an easy film to shoot, given the fact that there are more than 3 or 4 actors in every frame, besides a massive crowd of course.

To slot RAAJNEETI as a multi-starrer film would be erroneous. It's a multi-actor film and every actor delivers a sparkling performance. The film has some of the biggest names in the business, but the ones who stand out are Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpayee. Ranbir surprises you with every film. Here's an actor who can give the best in the business sleepless nights. Arjun is a revelation and what a terrific performance he pitches in. He's like an untamed lion. Manoj delivers his career-best performance. He plays the evil part superbly.

Ajay Devgn is sidelined in the second hour, but you need to give it to the actor for accepting and enacting his part with complete conviction. Nana Patekar is brilliant. He utters the most acidic lines with a smile, which only an actor of calibre could've achieved. Actually, you can't imagine anyone else in this role. Katrina Kaif is first-rate. The sincerity and earnestness shows in every sequence. She sheds her glam doll image and transforms into an actor with this film. Naseeruddin Shah, in a brief role, does well. Sarah is good.

On the whole, RAAJNEETI makes a sweeping impact. A truly admirable effort, this brilliant film is not to be missed.

Raajneeti - Music Review

Quite opposite to once expectations and Prakash Jha’s image, Raajneeti seems to be a full fledged musical once you read the names of composers and singers on the cover of this album. And most of them succeed in doing it to quite an extent. Yes, Raajneeti has it’s fare share of good music.

Raajneeti is genuinely one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year (unlike over-hyped and over-rated trash such as the recent “Housefull”). With a director like Prakash Jha at the helm who has a strong pedigree in this genre and a stellar cast (including the director’s favourite Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar) to befit several movies let alone one, Raajneeti is expected to portray the reality of politics in a way that has never been seen before. But what about the music? Apart from the background score (by Wayne Sharpe) which will be important, can the songs promote or add any value to such a movie? Based on Prakash Jha’s previous films the answer must be a resounding no and this theory is further compelled by the late arrival of this soundtrack (the movie is released in a few weeks!) but regardless of expectations.

The album starts with Bheegi si, bhaagi si, which is a peppy, foot-tapping, Pritam type song sung by Mohit Chauhan with a relatively very new Antara Mitra who sounds something like Shreya Ghoshal. A good one to say the least. Catchy. Not long term, but not bad certainly.

Next comes Aadesh Srivastava’s already hit composition Mora Piya mose bolat naahi. The song is definitely good, but the first complete line in the song comes after almost one and a half minutes into the song, so we definitely have a slow start at the song. Still, the song is worth listening to. Kudos to Aadesh for creating and then singing the awesome song too.

Ishq Barse is a pure item song by Shantanu Moitra who I don’t remember creating any such song before. Still, the favorite of VVC and Shyam Benegal makes this one quite fine and the Indian-rap sung by Hamsika Iyer is something worth listening to. The atkan-matkan-pigeonwa you know. Between, the song has something called a Bombay Bounce mix too, not that I got to know the difference I heard it the first time.

Dhan Dhan Dharti re, or Vande Mataram song as they are calling it, is the watch-it thing of the album. Sung by Shankar Mahadevan, and by Sonu Nigam in another version called ‘Call of the Soil’ (apne desh ki mitti ki khushboo?), the song is a poetic-patriotic feat by Gulzar and American composer Wayne Sharpe creates good enough surroundings with his Indian-Western fusion. I wonder if Rahman was asking for more money and so Prakash Jha went to an American composer for a version of Vande Mataram, but then, whatever be his reasons, the composer does his work darn good and I’m in love with this song. So the songs are over, but then there is a surprise. The surprise is that we have one more version of Mora Piya. This one is a Trance Mix, sung by our very own Kavita Seth. No, we don’t get her in a regular version (Does Aadesh Srivastava feel insecure??) but her voice is welcome in any version and she does the best she can in her limits.

In short, Raajneeti is worth a try, and actually worth a buy album. Prakash Jha seems to have been doing more than making just a good film this time, with some great pairings, oh-my-mouth-was-open trailers and some not-baaaad music. I just hope the movie is still as good as I hope it to be. For now, the music is above expectations, to say the least.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? - Movie Review

One of my childhood memories is that of several relatives visiting us in Mumbai [presumably for a few days], but overstaying their welcome. Those days, the atithis were never looked upon as 'intruders'.

Times have changed! If you live in a metropolis, if your spouse and you work round-the-clock and have commitments to honour, any extra person - other than those living with us or is part of our day-to-day schedule - is strictly unwelcome. His/her arrival may cause hindrance and rob you of your privacy.

ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? mirrors a reality, but the story has scope for not just humour and emotions, the staple diet of most Hindi movies, but there's a generous dose of devotional quotient that is well integrated in the storyline.

Do you miss movies of yore, helmed by masters like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee? ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? may not be a CHUPKE CHUPKE, GOLMAAL, CHITCHOR or KHATTA MEETHA, but it has a certain old-world charm that one misses in cinema of today.

Final word? Bring this atithi home!

It tells the story of Puneet [Ajay Devgn] and Munmun [Konkona], a married couple living in Mumbai. Their lives take an interesting turn when a distant relative, Chachaji [Paresh Rawal], turns up unannounced at their doorstep from a far-off village. The guest overstays his welcome, so much so that the exasperated couple come up with various ploys to hasten his departure.

ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? is a light-hearted entertainer that tickles your funny bone at several points. The best part is, you not only laugh at the funny one-liners, but also at situations, which are so life-like and which makes you connect with them instantly.

ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? rests on three characters primarily - Ajay, Konkona and Paresh - and director Ashwni Dhir and his team of writers [Robin Bhatt, Tushar Hiranandani] have ensured that there are ample [enjoyable] scenes that you carry home. What really takes you by surprise is the devotional factor that has been smartly injected in the screenplay. The traditional Indian audiences would love the Mata ki aarti, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and the sanskaar that the atithi instils in Ajay and Konkona's child.

But the writing wanders into unwanted areas, which could've been avoided in the first place. The raid at the hotel, where Ajay, Konkona and their son move into, seems unnecessary. Ditto for the subsequent scene at the cop station. Immediately thereafter, Ajay hires the services of a Bhai to get rid of Paresh, which looks far-fetched. These three incidents, which come back to back, only add to the length of the film. Also, Paresh breaking wind [gas/flatulence] looks funny in a scene or two, but why make it a recurring occurrence? An overdose is embarrassing!

However, the climax, which starts with the sthapna of Lord Ganesh's idol in Ajay's home, till the culmination of the story, makes the goings-on immensely watchable. Director Ashwni Dhir, best known for penning comic shows, proves that he's at ease handling dramatic [interval point] and emotional [climax] scenes with gusto. Pritam's music is ordinary, but the songs fit well in the narrative, especially the two devotional tracks. The title track [Amit Mishra] is quite catchy. Aseem Bajaj's camerawork is first-rate. Dialogues [Ashwni Dhir] are excellent.

Come to think of it, it requires a lot of courage to play a role that's devoid of star mannerisms and Ajay enacts this part most convincingly. Konkona is spontaneous and a complete natural. Paresh is superb as the atithi. He's definitely the scene-stealer! Satish Kaushik shines, especially in the sequence when he apologises to Ajay. Akhilendra Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari and Viju Khote are alright. Sanjay Mishra is first-rate.

On the whole, ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? is a hilarious movie, but unlike any slapstick comedy. It's a light-hearted film with sensibility, humour and a strong undercurrent of emotion. This atithi is sure to find a place in your heart!

Teen Patti - Movie Review

The earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed. That's so true! Let's face it, money is the root of all evil. When we have more, it is never enough. This is exactly what Leena Yadav's TEEN PATTI tells you.

TEEN PATTI is not only about gambling on table, but all those gambles that we take in our life. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Hollywood film 21, TEEN PATTI is akin to a roller coaster ride; if there are highs, expect the lows too.

Leena Yadav's take on greed and deception has some defining moments, but the fact is that the writing lacks clarity. Let me explain. Probability is a very interesting theory in mathematics. But the problem is, is it easy to comprehend for the average viewer? Frankly, despite Leena's best efforts, only a handful of viewers will be able to comprehend the goings on and the theory of probability.

Besides, the narrative is such that it caters to the intelligentsia mainly. For the average moviegoer, thirsting for entertainment, it has little to offer.

The reclusive genius Venkat [Amitabh Bachchan] has cracked a theory that could redefine the principles of probability and randomness. Venkat is encouraged to test his theory in the real world by professor Shantanu [Madhavan], an ambitious colleague of Venkat.

Although Venkat has no interest in the money that could come from practicing his equation to crack 'Teen Patti', which could rake in all the moolah, he eventually succumbs to Shantanu's charismatic persuasion. Soon, with the help of a few students, they explore the underground gambling dens of Mumbai.

But what starts out as an experiment between a charismatic young professor and an eccentric older one soon descends into a game neither of them can control.

It takes time to get the hang of things in TEEN PATTI. But once the two professors and the students begin their sojourn to the dark alleys, the film comes into its own from thereon.

The story moves back and forth, with Bachchan narrating his side of the story in flashbacks to Sir Ben, which is well integrated in the narrative. The intermission point - when the mystery about the unknown caller deepens - only heightens the expectations from the post-interval portions.

But there're hiccups! The pace gets excruciatingly slow in this hour and also, it tends to get repetitive. Among the cameos - Jackie Shroff, Ajay Devgn, Tinnu Anand and Shakti Kapoor - only the ones featuring Tinnu and Shakti stand out, while Ajay's scene seems forced.

The writing is erratic [Shiv Subramanyam, Leena Yadav], with some portions touching the peak, while a few touching the ebb. The suicide of one of the students and how it puts an end to the game is a master stroke from the writing point of view. Bachchan's speech in the finale, when he's bestowed with the Sir Isaac Newton Award, moves you no end. But between the suicide and the finale, the film tends to get uninteresting.

Leena's direction shows maturity in her second outing. A number of sequences are deftly executed. But how one wished Leena would learn the art of narrating stories within commercial parameters. Aseem Bajaj's cinematography is striking. The visuals are simply incredible. Salim-Sulaiman's music has two catchy tracks - 'Neeyat' [the moves of the dancer are tantalising] and the track towards the end credits. The usage of B&W in this song is truly imaginative. The choreography of both these songs [Ashley Lobo] is superb.

Bachchan plays the role of a mathematician with remarkable ease. One cannot imagine anyone else in this character other than Bachchan. Especially noteworthy are the sequences between Bachchan and Sir Ben. Madhavan is excellent. The actor displays the grey shades most convincingly. The film introduces four new talents and each is confidence personified. Siddharth, Shraddha and Dhruv get maximum footage and they stand out. Vaibhav has tremendous screen presence, but his role lacks meat.

Raima Sen is alright. Barry John is first-rate. Anjan Srivastava is good. Mahesh Manjrekar is effective. Saira Mohan is hardly there. Sir Ben Kingsley is an amazing actor and expectedly, he's brilliant here. It's a treat to watch these two magicians - Sir Ben and Bachchan - perform on screen.

On the whole, TEEN PATTI is a fresh concept, made well, but limits itself to the intelligentsia and big city audiences mainly.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? - Music Review

Amita Pathak, daughter of producer Kumar Mangat, has stepped into the shoes of a producer for the first time, with ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ The movie has been presented by two banners, Warner Bros. Pictures and Wide Frame Films. Bringing 3 National Award Winners together for the first time, director Ashwani Dheer promises the flick to be a rip-roaring comedy.

Forming a married couple, Puneet (Ajay Devgan) and Munmun (Konkana Sen) are living happily in Mumbai. One day, a distant relative, Chachaji (Paresh Rawal) comes from a far off village and enters their household unannounced. The couple’s life takes interesting twists and turns from hereon. The unwanted guest overstays his welcome to such an extent that the frustrated couple has no other option, but to come up with various ideas to hasten his departure.

Atithi tum kab jaoge is not the music album you were expecting. But then, it gives you an idea of what you can expect from the movie. Before anything else, I would like to say one thing: Be it composer, lyricist or singer, they all know what they are doing. Something that is not very common if not rare.

Atithi tum kab jaoge has six songs out of which none is a ‘typical’ song. Here is a review of the album.

Aaja Aaja sung by Raghubir Yadav, Ajay Jhingaran and Rajneesh, you know about the song if you hear the first line properly. It goes like Jihva pe chhale pade panth nihar nihar, aankhon mein hai cataract aaya, aaja aaja pukaar. Clearly the making of a comic song. And then, the song goes on giving you some flavor of comedy in the song before you get it in the movie. The song is catchy and likable. Should be wonderful in the movie. Try this one for sure.

Next one, called Atithi tum kab aaoge, sung by Amit Mishra, is more of background music than song. Doesn’t mean much after the first song that gave music as well as comedy.

Dohay sung by Amit again are simply a selection of some Rahim and Kabir dohas from my Hindi syllabus during school. No words about them of course. Good enough music.

Jyoti Jalale is what you get everytime when you go to a pilgrimage or even the nearby temple sometimes. Completely on the music of Beedi Jalaile, and taking the same lyrics as base, a Mata Bhajan is created and then this one is sung by the singer of Beedi itself, Sukhwinder Singh. I am still wondering what the song is doing there, but it’s exactly what T-Series has been giving us for years.

Sukh Karta Dukh harta is a collection of some shlokas with some non-traditional instruments. Seems to be background piece again.

Overall, Atithi tum kab jaoge is something you never expected, or at least I did not. Anyway, don’t forget to listen to Aaja Aaja, and try even Jyoti Jalaile if you don’t mind a mata bhajan on Beedi tune.

One wondering whether Pritam has been declared the composer of the album for just one song Amit Mishra is the one who has sung all the Dohas and Shloaks. The official website of the movie declares Amit Mishra as the ‘composer of the title track.’

Teen Patti - Music Review

The ‘Teen Patti‘ album is dark, edgy and has all the makings of a soundtrack for a riveting suspense thriller. That said, the release of the album could not have come at a better time. The movie is only beginning to generate hype. With a star-cast like Amitabh Bachchan and Sir Ben Kingsley, you already have an ace up your sleeve. Speaking about aces, though very little of the film’s plot is know, it is said to revolve about a mathematician who has cracked a formula that is applicable to the card-game ‘Teen Patti‘. Thus, begins a journey of lies, deceit, betrayal and greed.

Teen Patti is a niche album because many of the songs are in English, but if you like it, you could listen to it all day. Among our favourites on the album are: Neeyat and its remix, Life is a game and Summertime and the living.

‘Life Is A Game‘ begins with Amitabh saying ‘Paisa kya ek number hai…bhook hai paisa‘. Those lines probably sum up the movie itself. The music is a little overdone and Big B’s interrupting baritone monologues do not exactly make for pleasant listening. All the same, its dark and eerie, like ‘Golden Eye’ from James Bond.

‘Summertime‘ is a lazy blues tune. This tune has some nice vocals and heavy up-tempo orchestration. ‘Neeyat Kharab Hai‘ is like ‘Tinka Tinka’ from Karam. It’s slow, deliberate and does get a little strenuous at four minutes, something only the visualization can ease. Its remix has elements of eletronica and is more groovy with rap vocals et all.

Title track ‘Teen Patti Ke Gulam‘ is upbeat and trancy, like something from the Acid Factory soundtrack. Its remix has different beats to essentially the same track. Both can easily pass of as lounge tracks considering they’re both brisk, trippy psychedelic songs.

The album concludes with ‘Intezar Me Chupa Kahin‘, which starts off slowly before picking up pace and culminating into a crash-driven rock anthem. At its peak, the drum-work is fluid, guitar solos are good and vocals are rough enough to pass this off as an out-and-out hard rock number. However the music oscillates between two extremities of the genre.Intezaar me chupa kahi is a rock song featuring Naresh Kamat who modulates his tone and pitch very well. The song builds up rather nicely and the guitars are impressive. There is an element of suspense in the song. A good rock song after ages! The remix is tolerable.

The son of ace-master Veeru Devgan, Ajay was exposed to films from a very early age. He used to accompany his father to the sets and was very watchful from the beginning. But no one could ever imagine that Ajay would grow up to reach tremendous stardom.

Ajay, previously named Vishal, was born in Mumbai on April 2, 1967. His brother Anil Devgan is a film director in Bollywood. He began with the hit film “Phool Aur Kaante” opposite new comer Madhu Malini. Quite different from the others who join the industry without being noticed in the first few films, Ajay was not just noticed, he was appreciated by many, and awarded the best debutant for this film in 1991.
It marked a remarkable upward journey of a star-to-be. Soon after his first film, Ajay was loaded with offers. He did a no. of good films like Jigar(1992), Shaktiman(1993) Vijaypath(1994), Dilwale(1994) and Hulchul(1995). All the films portrayed Ajay as an action hero. But Ajay proved himself much more capable than just action and stunts.
Films like Ishq, Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Dil Kya Kare and Major Saab, showed everyone that Ajay could portray comedy and romance with equal ability. It was when Ajay was working with actress Kajol in Ishq and Hulchul, that they realized they were in love with each other. Soon they tied the knot. They now have a daughter named, Nyasa.
There was no scarcity for work for an actor like Ajay. He was already a star. But a landmark film in his career was, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” opposite Aishwarya Rai. It was an emotional love triangle and a superhit film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
In more recent years, Ajay has done few yet quality films. Films like “The Legend Of Bhagat Singh”, Raincoat, Kaal and Apaharan all show different character portrayals of him. Ajay has definitely grown up in terms of his acting and as a person.
News is that Ajay will now go behind the camera and dawn the role of director. His forthcoming films are Sholay, London Dreams and his directional debut film U Me Aur Hum. This is one actor who believes that variety is the spice of life..

London Dreams movie is a story of dreams of London. It is the biggest movie of Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan together after the most successful movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Vipul Shah always tries to give some national pride in his movie just like Puneet Sira.

Mannu had gotten an inherent musical gift in his life and irreverent style of performing music. These style makes him instant darling of the crowds. This name and fame has not been taken by Arjun in many years but he achieves overnight.

Arjun’s jealous has gotten stronger place when Mannu wins his secret love, Priya. Now, Arjun has planned to destroy his best friend. On the tour of Paris, Rome and Amsterdam, Arjun sends many worse things to Mannu to destroy him. Mannu’s sprit and life almost breaks now. Arjun hopes to have glory of the moment among 25,000 crowds. In the end of the London Dreams movie, Arjun takes a lesion of the true meaning of acceptance in life.

London Dreams movie has introduced a big drama in musical life. It is the biggest musical movie of Bollywood. It is a philosophical movie towards life. Ajay Devgan is in same role of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam movie and Salman is also on the same character.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has tried to put some different music in each song of London Dreams. Lyric of London Dreams are also very different in each songs. Headstarts Film UK Ltd. has produced the movie. Sejal Shah is the cinematographer of London Dreams.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah has delivered his technically best product till date with London Dreams. But apart from the technique its high on emotions as well. Vipul gives apt time for character development for each of his main protagonists. Devoid of unnecessary melodrama he captures the emotional moments with aplomb. Sejal Shah’s camerawork is of international standards. The night scenes are superbly lit.

Ajay is excellent in his part and one can see the best villain awards coming his way at the awards for this year. Salman seems to be enjoying himself and is extremely likeable. Though Asin is most of the time relegated to the background she puts up a nice act. Her chemistry with Salman works. Popular VJs Aditya and Ranvijay of Roadies fame make a good debut. Om Puri in a small part impresses as usual.

Amongst the flaws, the climax is overstretched and the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music not really up to the mark, especially the climax concert numbers. The song that comes after everything is over is too slow and a rousing number would have made for an apt grand finale.

‘All The Best’ stands ahead of ‘Blue’



This Diwali, two big projects hit the screens and the actors of both the films went out of their way to meet their fans in person and get the first hand review of the audience. But, it is definitely very clear that Ajay Devgan’s ‘All the Best’ has defeated the big budgeted and over-hyped ‘Blue’ in gaining bucks at the box-office.

Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif were there for the ‘Blue’ movie screening and Akshay was aware of the fact that the film wasn’t appreciated much by the viewers. He said, ”Critics haven’t liked it, some have, some haven’t but every 

individual has its own liking or disliking, said Akshay Kumar.”

‘All The Best’ has been liked by both the critics and viewers alike. Ajay Devgan was there at Cinemax on Sunday evening along with Bipasha Basu, dressed in a sexy blue outfit, director Rohit Shetty and the comedians Sanjay Mishra, Atul Parchure and Mukesh Tiwari.

All The Best - Movie Review

Sometimes, we laugh at movies. At times, we laugh in movies. Thankfully, All The Best, helmed by Rohit Shetty, belongs to the movies in which we laugh not at the movie.

All The Best makes no claims of catering to the intelligentsia or the elite. Instead, it's aimed at those who want to spend two hours of their precious life flexing their facial muscles. All The Best is for those who expect fun and laughter unlimited in those two hours. This one makes you smile, laugh, even break into a guffaw at times.

The jokes and the goings-on may appear silly, but who cares! As long as one feels positive and wears a smile on the face even after the show has ended, nothing else matters.

Comedy is serious business and Rohit Shetty is a pro at this genre now. This time, the talented director seeks inspiration from "Right Bed, Wrong Husband" and what works to the advantage are two factors - the written material and the right casting. Both are just right!

From time to time, it has been noticed that some films are made with the motive of keeping you entertained. All The Best is one of those films. Go, have a blast this Diwali!

Veer [Fardeen Khan], a singer by profession, is greedy of extracting extra pocket money from his brother Dharam [Sanjay Dutt], a business-honcho. Veer lies to Dharam that he has got married and his friend Prem [Ajay Devgn], a concept car expert, lends a helping hand in cooking up this alibi.

Veer is in love with Vidya [Mugdha Godse], but has qualified in the hate list of her father. Prem is happily married to Jhanvi [Bipasha Basu], who takes care of his ancestor's outdated gymnasium. Veer and Prem land up in debts as they had opted for a short-cut to earn easy money.

The two get into a bigger soup when Dharam pays a sudden visit to their place. Time does not give a chance and unavoidable circumstances arouse such situations that Prem's wife Jhanvi is mistaken for Veer's and Veer's girlfriend for Prem's.

Like his previous films, director Rohit Shetty rests the story on multiple characters, with a dozen odd actors in supporting roles. With so many characters in the film, it generally tends to get confusing, but All The Best has an easy-to-comprehend story and a trouble-free and uncomplicated screenplay [Robin Bhatt and Yunus Sajawal].

Very soon in the film you know that All The Best is all about mistaken identities. But the proceedings actually take off when Sanju enters the scene. That's when you get drawn into this madcap world completely.

A number of sequences are howlarious. Note Johny Lever's intro. Ditto for Sanjay Mishra's track. Also, when Johny Lever regains his voice - towards the climax - it's sooooo funny. On the flip side, the pace drops in the middle of the second hour. Also Pritam's musical score is uninspiring and the songs act as speed breakers.

Rohit Shetty is in top form and his team of writers, Robin and Yunus, contribute enormously in making this film watchable. Dudley's cinematography is perfect. Farhad - Sajid and Bunty Rathore's dialogue are very much in sync with the mood of the film. In fact, a few one-liners are extremely witty.

Sanju portrays his part well. His sequences with Ajay are truly fantastic. But the show-stopper is undoubtedly Ajay, whose comic timing is only getting better. He plays to the gallery completely and delivers a sparkling performance. Fardeen needs to loosen up, though he makes a sincere attempt. Bipasha is sweet, while Mugdha doesn't get much scope. Amongst supporting actors, Johny Lever and Sanjay Mishra are in terrific form. Mukesh Tiwari, Vijay Patkar, Ashwini Kalsekar and Atul Parchure lend credible report.

On the whole, All The Best is fun and laughter unlimited. At the box-office, the festive period coupled with the solid track record of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty and also the strong merits will ensure ample footfalls at cineplexes, making its investors laugh all the way to the bank.
