Hrithik Roshan: I got to hospital in time

Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan

Duggu was recently hospitalized for an allergic reaction from an antibiotic medicine. Hrithink Roshan said that he is much better now and he got to the hospital just in time and even a delay of 15 minutes would have proved fatal for our Greek God.

Hrithik said from the hospital, “It was an allergic reaction from the antibiotics that I was taking. Throat and lungs went into spasm. I came to the hospital just in time…all cool now. I am kept under observation for sometime.”

On Sunday evening, this reaction got so violent that his family got scared for his life. Hrithik was immediately taken to the hospital and an immediate check was carried out by a batch of doctors. An hour after his check, Hrithik sent an sms saying, “It was an allergic reaction. I got to the hospital in time. Fifteen minutes more it would have been fatal…lungs just closed…my voice box is affected.”

Now the entire family must be relieved and Hrithik is resting and recovering under observations. He said, “So finally I am in the hospital. Damn so much to do!”

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan is well known for his muscled body and you would be pleased to know that, he has taken his body toning tips from Salman Khan.

Hrithik Roshan with Salman KhanBefore sources were saying that, all was not well between Salman and Hrithik Roshan as Hrithik was really upset with the comment of Salman on his most expected project 'Guzaarish' which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Actully the whole story is that, Salman passed his sharp comments on director Sanjay Leela Bhansali that not even a fly was in the auditorium showing his film Guzaarish. Moreover Salman revealed a secret that, Sanjay called up as girl who was hearing-impaired, at an event where he was chief guest. He tried to cash up her presence for the promotion of his movie 'Guzaarish', he wanted to make a lot of money out of her tragedy and not pay her anything. These sharp comments by Salman really upset the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and lead hero of the movie Hrithik Roshan. So the actor ( Hrithik ) decided to answer him reacting sharply.

Hrithik reacted sharply against Salman, this rose differences between these two hot actors of the Bollywod town who used to be good friends at a point of time. But now it seems that the clouds of clashes are gone and they have patched up. Hrithik appeared at Sohail's birthday party(who is a brother of Salman), he showed that nothing is wrong between him and Salman. There is no tension between the two. Presently Hrithik Roshan is looking forward for his upcoming movie 'Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara' with big hopes. Macho man Salman is planning to make a sequel of his blockbuster hit 'Dabangg' wherein he played the role of a cop, Chulbul Pandey.

Guzaarish - Movie Review

Cast :: Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood appears to be inclined towards exploring rare illnesses/disorders/disabilities, with directors casting megastars in characters to raise awareness about the lesser-known ailments. In GHAJINI, Aamir Khan had short-term memory loss [Anterograde Amnesia]. In PAA, Amitabh Bachchan played a child afflicted with Progeria. In MY NAME IS KHAN, SRK was shown suffering from Asperger Syndrome. In TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, Aamir Khan portrayed problems of Dyslexic children. In BLACK, Amitabh Bachchan was shown succumbing to Alzheimer's. In KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK, Farhan Akhtar portrayed a Schizophrenic.

This is not the first time that master film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has attempted a movie that has the protagonist suffering from a serious disability. In GUZAARISH, Hrithik Roshan suffers from Paraplegia, a complete paralysis of the lower half of the body, including both legs, usually caused by damage/injury to the spinal cord.

Bhansali has always been known for two things. The first thing is, of course, the visual splendour in his films [which was quite evident in HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS and SAAWARIYA] and the second thing that he takes inspiration from various stories. The critically acclaimed BLACK was inspired from THE MIRACLE WORKER [a 1962 film] and SAAWARIYA from 'White Nights', a Russian short story.

There's talk that GUZAARISH is a remake of Christopher Nolan's Hollywood movie THE PRESTIGE, which, let me clarify, it is not. GUZAARISH brings back memories of two films, which may be coincidental: The Spanish Oscar and Golden Globe winning film MAR ADENTRO aka THE SEA INSIDE [2004], which, in turn, was based on a real-life story of Ramon Sampedro and WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY?, a television play which was later adapted into a play [theatre] and much later into a film [1981].

Bhansali has worked himself to the grind and his presence is felt in every frame of GUZAARISH. There is an inimitable intellect that Bhansali brings to his movies. Bhansali is also known to extract the best performances from his actors. In a light-hearted vein, I would go to the extent of saying that Bhansali has the ability to make a dumb man speak and a sightless man see. His devotion and dedication towards his craft is truly inspirational and motivating. In GUZAARISH, Bhansali puts behind all the glitter and glamour and comes up with yet another unique and sensitive story told through a series of flashbacks.

Final word? GUZAARISH is special in more ways than one. In my individualistic opinion, it easily ranks amongst Bhansali's best works so far. Just don't miss this one!

Set in Goa, it tells the story of an accomplished magician Ethan Mascarenhas [Hrithik Roshan]. Ethan suffers serious injuries when one of his magical trick goes horribly wrong, turning him to a Paraplegic. Confined to a wheel chair, Ethan becomes a Radio Jockey at an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show talks of hope, laughter and sunshine and it's difficult to imagine that the man behind it has been immobilized with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years of his life. Sofia [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], a nurse, takes good care of him; they share a silent love.

Ethan files a petition in court for mercy killing. This decision of Ethan leaves Sofia stunned. Ethan takes the help of friend-lawyer Devyani [Shernaz Patel] to support his appeal. Even Ethan's mother Isabel [Nafisa Ali] supports him in his petition, although Ethan is persuaded by his physician Dr. Nayak [Suhel Seth] to retract his case. Alongside all this, Omar [Aditya Roy Kapur] enters Ethan's life with the aim of learning magic from him. Impressed by Omar's love for magic, Ethan agrees to pass on his legacy to him.

Only a sensitive raconteur can do absolute justice to a challenging subject like the one in GUZAARISH and Bhansali seems the right candidate for an extremely tricky theme like mercy killing/Euthanasia. The story is complex and can only be narrated by a storyteller who has the art of telling stories most convincingly. Sure, the protagonist in GUZAARISH wants to end his existence, but that doesn't mean the film is disheartening or unsettling. Clearly, the writing [screenplay: Bhavani Iyer and Bhansali] is smart, taut and absorbing.

GUZAARISH has a number of sequences that bear the unmistakable stamp of a genius. Sample these?

  • The courtroom sequence and Aishwarya's outburst towards the end of it.
  • The hearing of the petition at Hrithik's house.
  • Hrithik's act going wrong and the near-fatal accident.
  • The finale.

Any negatives? The generous usage of English in the narrative. The language is sure to act as a barrier in the hinterland specially. Agreed, the film is set in Goa, they are bound to speak that language, but despite everything, Hindi is a must for a pan-India appeal.

Irrespective of how his films fare at the box-office, Bhansali's films have always been embellished with rich and cherished music. The songs continue to linger in the hearts of the listeners with their dulcet and soothing tunes. After legendary Satyajit Ray and Vishal Bhardwaj, Bhansali is the next accomplished film-maker who has himself created the music of his film. The songs in GUZAARISH are more inclined towards poetry that's earthy and contemporary. However, it does take some time for the listeners to sense the pulse of the music. 'Tera Zikr Hai Ya Itra Hai' is a limerick to exquisiteness, 'Sau Gram Zindagi', with its philosophical tone, leaves a lasting impression, the title track 'Guzaarish' casts a spell on you and 'Udi' is, of course, memorable.

GUZAARISH has been magnificently shot. The indoors as well as outdoors [the gorgeous panorama] add so much to the film. There's no refuting that cinematographer Sudeep K. Chatterjee has created some really alluring and enthralling visuals. The very effective and subtle background score [Tubby and Parik] of GUZAARISH is its very backbone. The feelings of intrigue, anxiety, anguish and romance come across so well. In fact, for the very first time, I felt that I was not hearing the background score, I was feeling it. Dialogue [Bhavani Iyer and Vibhu Puri] belong to high standards that touch your soul. Costumes [Sabyasachi] are absolutely wonderful; they gel well with the setting and mood of the film.

Hrithik and Aishwarya are seen in a lackluster facade and that's what makes the characters so plausible. While Hrithik is seen sporting a beard and has even put on weight, Aishwarya is seen in sober outfits. In fact, the two actors have gone through a drastic appearance change and both pressurize you to believe that they are indeed Ethan and Sofia. It must be said that Hrithik and Aishwarya exude a certain dignity and elegance, much needed for a sensitive film of this magnitude and caliber.

It must have been an arduous task for Hrithik to carry off the Paraplegic character of Ethan Mascarenhas, but he depicts the part with flourish. It's a great risk in filmy norms to have the hero of the film almost entirely on a wheel chair, but Hrithik has never hesitated or been irresolute in putting himself to adverse conditions, in order to achieve excellence, in whatever character he chooses to depict. Kudos to Hrithik for accepting a role that's truly opposite to his larger-than-life image and portraying it with elan.

Aishwarya, as Ethan's nurse who is the epicenter of his world, has approached this role with rare understanding, not going overboard even once. So effective is she that she not only influences you but also compels you to believe that their love is solid in its quiet strength and also spirited in their verbal sparring. The sensational chemistry, which sizzled the silver screen in DHOOM 2 and JODHAA AKBAR and won hearts all over, sizzles yet again, but this time in a distinctive aspect.

Aditya Roy Kapur is truly outstanding in a pivotal character. Shernaz Patel is exceptional. Nafisa Ali makes her presence felt in a small but significant role. Suhel Seth is in terrific form. Moni Kangana Dutta is okay. Vijay Crishna [judge] is effective. Rajit Kapoor does complete justice to his role. Makarand Deshpande leaves an impression. Ash Chandler and Achint Kaur lend good support.

On the whole, GUZAARISH is an invigorating tale. Bhansali, as a film-maker, has scaled several notches above his past accomplishments to create a near-perfect cinematic experience. The highpoint of the motion picture is the magnificently penned story of an incapacitated and debilitated man who desires to end his being with dignity. The film sedu.ces the viewer with a strong emotional quotient, soulful music and of course, the crackling and wonderful onscreen chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya. Without doubt, GUZAARISH is one of the most profound, insightful and enriching dramas of the year.

‘Guzaarish’ is Aishwarya’s last hope…

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s career is going through a rough patch right now. All her recent releases are bombing miserably at the box office Now, Ash has her last hope on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish which stars Hrithik Roshan as the male lead..

Ash’s Action Replayy starring Akshay kumar flopped big time at the box office. Raavan, which released early this year also failed miserably.
Apperantly, Robot, did and average business in Bollywood but needless to mention, the entire credit goes to South superstar, Rajnikanth.

However, Guzaarish trailers are gaining all the attention at the moment and Ash is hoping for this film to live up to the hype.
Having a disaster with Kites, the flick Guzaarish’s success is critical to Hrithik too.

Guzaarish - Music Review

Cast :: Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai
Despite a minimal instrumental backing, Sanjay Leela Bhansali proves his arranging acumen in the ambient title song. The harmonica, the violin have all been perfectly placed to make the song instantly addictive. Also helping it on its way is the rendition by KK and Shail Hada. That said, one cannot ignore the resemblance to tracks from some of his older movies, particularly HDDCS’s title song. Sau Gram Zindagi is a very 90s-sounding ghazal-based tune given a modern orchestral packaging, and coming in Kunal Ganjawala’s voice it works quite well. Shail Hada reappears with Rakesh Pandit to deliver the poem-like Tera Zikr. Though the poem-line rules out an attractive tune for the song per se, SLB kind of makes it up with the arrangement. And wonderful singing by the vocalists, especially Rakesh.

And then things start going wrong. In Saiba, Bhansali’s attempt to fuse the Latino sound with Vibhavari Joshi’s semiclassical vocals falls flat. Somehow they don’t seem to meld well. KK’s Jaane Kiske sounds quite a bit like the title song in its general feel, but lacks the quality the latter has in orchestration. The only thing that keeps the track going is KK’s reliability. The composer bounces back with the next track, Udi, where the Arabic elements in arrangement make for a wonderful listen coupled with Sunidhi’s exuberance.

In Keh Na Sakoon SLB once again returns to the orchestral melancholic theme of arrangement and ends up being one too many in that line. Shail Hada does a good job behind the microphone but that is not enough to prop this one up. Chaand Ki Katori is an excellent display of Harshdeep Kaur’s vocal brilliance and it is her singing for major part that makes the song enjoyable. Daayein Baayein sounds like a mellow version of Saawariya’s title song and works in a similar manner, KK doing the honors for a third time. Dhundhli Dhundhli is credited to Shankar Mahadevan everywhere on the net, who the vocalist definitely is not. Roop Kumar Rathore may be. Apart from that conflict of facts I found nothing very interesting about the track, the orchestral arrangement getting way too tedious by now.

A decent debut as composer from Sanjay Leela Bhansali which would have been much better had he cut down on the number of songs, especially the similar-genre ones. But that was the case with Saawariya too. One would have expected SLB to learn from his past mistakes. Hope he’s done that at least on the movie front.

Kites - Movie Review

Cast :: Hrithik Roshan, Kangna Ranaut, Barbara Mori, Kabir Bedi, Nick Brown, Yuri Suri

Hrithik Roshan treads the crooked path in the by-lanes of Las Vegas. He has married umpteen girls for the coveted green card and Barbara Mori happens to be one of his abandoned wives. But sparks fly between the two when they meet again, this time under different -- and dangerous -- circumstances. The mercenary couple are all set to marry a rich brother-sister duo (Kangana and Nick Brown) for their money but they soon discover they are in love and flee the rich and powerful siblings who are hell bent on avenging their dishonour. Will love surmount all odds?

Where's the chemistry? Where's the story? And where's the twist in the tale? Kites could have been that cross-over film that Bollywood has been dreaming about since long. Sadly, it flounders even before it can take off and soar....

So what's holding it down? First and foremost, the film completely lacks a story and unfolds as an unabashed chase film. Nothing wrong with that, for we have had a number of road movies that have thrilled and chilled us. But for that, there has always been a twist in the tale to provide an edgy feel to the film. Kites, on the other hand, does have Hrithik and Barbara spending the second half of the film as fugitives on the run, but their journey is so predictable, it fills you with a yawn. If the first half is a non-happening prolonged romance that unfolds in stares, glances, looks followed by some more stares, glances and looks between our protagonists (Hrithik and Barbara) as they try and seek out covert moments of togetherness in the palatial house of their respective bethrotheds (Kangana and Nick), the second half is a hit and run case which sees the fugitives hoping to make out 'neath the shadow of the gun. Both Barbara and Hrithik decide to give up their get-rich-quick plans and opt for penniless love instead, even though they know they will be pursued till the end of the world by the ditched brother-sister duo.

But hey, do they make out? Not really, unless you call Barbara yakking relentlessly in Spanish or Hrithik stitching up her arm beneath the rocks as romantic. Which brings us to the chemistry bit....Quite unlike the pre-release claims, the Mexican-Indian mix isn't exactly red hot chilli pepper stuff. Their romance hardly sizzles, with Mori spending most of her time flashing toothy grins and Hrithik failing to match up to his hot-hot bonding with Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2. Even the waterfall sequence in the jungle ends up as ekdum thanda!

It's the look of the film which carries it forward. Director Anurag Basu may have dipped in the emotional quotient of the film but he does create a visual feel and texture that has an international feel to it. The cinematography by Ayananka Bose has a grand texture and creates compelling montages, specially in the rain-drenched climax sequence. Performance-wise, the lead actors are just adequate and do not exactly set the screen ablaze, neither with their emotions nor with their passion. One almost feels sorry for Kangana, a fine actor who is reduced to a speechless accessory that is left to do what Hrithik and Barbara do -- stare, glance, look as the woman scorned -- for the short span that she's on. The audio track by Rajesh Roshan doesn't linger too, because the film mostly has a loud, repetitive background score by Salim-Suleiman interspersed with maybe just one forgettable number.

Kites definitely has an international appeal in terms of music. Songs will not dwell in you heart immediately but will start to sound wonderful after listening to it couple of times. Only 2 songs makes the good cut and both of them are by KK.

“Zindagi Do Pal Ki” song of Kites music is sung by KK. The song begins with slow-paced poetic lyric. Music of the song is also very thematic which tunes on “Jhankar” instrument. Music of the song is very different and new for listeners. Music of “Zindagi Do Pal Ki” is just like slow-paced blowing air.

“Zindagi Do Pal Ki (Remix)” song of Kites 2010 music is sung by KK. The remix version of song is also tunes on “Jhankar” instrument. Lyric of the song appears from background. Music of remix version is a little bit fast and blowing than its original version.

“Dil Kyun Yeh Mera (Remix)” song of Kites Album is sung by K K. The remix song also begins with slow-paced clapping music. Lyric of the song is inspired by western influence. The song tunes on instrumental band music. Lyric of the song is very unique and different from other soundtracks of Kites 2010 Album.

“Tum Bhi Ho Wahi (Remix)” song of Kites Hindi music is sung by Vishal Dadlani and Suraj Jagan. The song introduces “Jhankar” band music. Lyric of the song tunes in the background. The song introduces mix lyrics on fast-paced band music.

“Tum Bhi Ho Wahi” song of Kites music is also sung by Vishal Dadlani and Suraj Jagan. There is not much difference in both versions of songs. Both songs tunes almost on the same lyrics. Music of the song is also very similar to its remix version.

“Fire (English Version)” song of Kites Album is sung by Rajesh Roshan, Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchanda. The song begins with blinking music. The song introduces DJ music. It tunes on very fast instrumental music. “Fire (English Version)” song tunes on very fast-paced band music also. Music of the song is very compatible for Party night and Club music. Lyric of the song tunes on only background music. Music of the song is very focus and focal rather than its lyric.

“Fire” song of Kites music is sung by Anirudh Bhola and Anushka Manchanda. Both version of songs are almost same – remix and original.

“Kites In The Sky” song of Kites Album is sung by Hrithik Roshan and Suzan Demello. Lyric and music of the song is influenced by western music. The song is dedicated to the movie title. Music of the song also tunes on slow-paced “Jhankar” instrument.

Hrithik Roshan’s sister marries secretly

Sunaina-roshan-mohan-All is not well at Roshans’ household.Hrithik Roshan’s older sister Sunaina Roshan married
secretly to a businessman named Mohan Nagar a couple of months ago. The problem is that she has lost the support of her parents and brother because of marrying without their consent.

Sunaina has finally let the cat out of the bag after dismissing the reports that she had tied the knot. She revealed that she married Mohan three months ago after dating for six months and they stay at Lokhandwala, Andheri. She added that she is happy with Mohan, as he is a fantastic guy.

Mohan revealed that they got married on January 20 in a temple and got their marriage registered in court later.

It may be recalled that Sunaina braved her way through a failed marriage, single parenthood, a broken engagement and cancer. She has a 13-year-old-daughter from her ten years marriage with Ashish Soni, who is now married to Shonali Malhotra. She was then engaged to US-based Nick Udaysingh but it was called off. It’s second marriage for Mohan too.

Why Hrithik Roshan’s film is called Kites

kites-

Finally, we know why Kites is called Kites. Producer Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu, makers of Kites, one of the most eagerly awaited romantic films of this summer disclose the inspiration behind their film’s title.

“The idea for Kites came to me when I was gazing at the sky and saw two kites flying,”. It looked very romantic. It was very intriguing – the way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart. Unaware that someone else was pulling the strings and could cut them loose. I sat down and penned a story around this idea.” notes Rakesh Roshan.

“Kites is a metaphor in the film. Kites fly against the wind and not with it, stronger the wind blows, higher they fly,” adds Anurag Basu who penned the screenplay and directed the film.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan and to be released worldwide by Reliance BIG Pictures, Kites is directed by Anurag Basu. It stars Hrithik Roshan and the Mexican star Barbara Mori along with Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown.
